During the transition from the old OECD Online Bookshop to the new OECD Online Bookshop, we have had to temporarily reroute all traffic to our fulfillment company, Turpin Distribution's Online Bookshop for the online ordering of OECD publications. On that site, you will have to do a search to find desired publications. During this period, we are unable to deliver PDF files to customers' bookshelves. The new OECD Online Bookshop should be available soon.

Please note that all cover images now link to the Read and Share view of the full publication. From that view, you can click on "Buy" to purchase the book on the OECD Online Bookshop or "OECD iLibrary" to access premium features.

OECD Forum 2015. Investing in the Future: People, Planet, Prosperity
Forum 2015, Investing in the Future: People, Planet, Prosperity will take place in Paris on 2-3 June. It will be organised around five themes: Investment; Inclusive growth; Innovation; the New Climate Economy; and Sustainable Development Goals Read more

Responsible gold also means supporting livelihoods of artisanal miners
Last year, a blind Congolese civil society leader named Eric Kajemba helped broker a deal between the Congolese army, local authorities, three powerful Congolese families and a Canadian mining company to de-militarise a lucrative gold mine in South Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The mine, called Mukungwe, supports an estimated 5,000 thousand so-called “artisanal” gold miners, who work in harsh conditions and have for years lived under constant threat of extortion and violence by armed groups, the military and criminal gangs that operated in the area. Read more

City slickers and water security: governments getting their hands dirty
If you’ve just visited the room with no windows and enjoyed the effortless push of the “deposit disposal button” followed by a stream of fresh, clean tap water to wash your hands, you could well be in an OECD city. Count your blessings too if your basement or street has avoided flooding from heavy rain or if your lawn and plants are still in vibrant colour because they are well hydrated during the dry summer. This urban providence doesn’t mean you’re not exposed to the risk of flooding, water scarcity or pollution. It probably means that your city is rolling up its sleeves and getting equipped to manage these risks and minimise their consequences in a way that you and your fellow city slickers can afford. China meets the 'new normal'
Anyone who takes even a passing interest in China can’t have failed to notice a shift in mood of late. Gone are the decades of soaraway growth, when the economy expanded by an annual average of 10%, enabling around half a billion people to lift themselves out of poverty. Read more

China and the OECD mark 20 years of partnership
The past few decades have seen developing and emerging economies playing an ever-larger role in the world economy. According to OECD estimates from a few years back, in 2011 China and India accounted for 24% of the global economy; by 2060 that was forecast to rise to 46%, overtaking the combined total for current OECD Members. The policy maker’s guide to graft
Think back to a time when your purse or wallet was stolen, or your laptop with all your files in it lifted from your bag, or any other possession taken from you. What did you feel? Probably outrage, anger and even despair, perhaps with a surprising sense of helplessness. When corruption occurs, intense emotions rarely, if ever, result (unless you count the joys of mounds of illicitly acquired cash or the agony of incarceration). When corruption swindles the public good, the effect isn’t immediate but muted, diluted across the population, producing a signal so feeble few can feel it—directly. And this may be just what the corruptors, the skimmers, the influence peddlers, the brown-envelopers and breeders of white elephants count on. Read more

Water balance
In September 2013 the Kenyan government and the United Nations announced the discovery of huge underground reserves of water in northern Kenya, enough water to last the entire nation for 70 years. The Lotikipi Basin Aquifer and Lodwar Basin Aquifer were located by satellite in drought-afflicted Turkana County, where water scarcity and competition for grazing land has led to deadly cattle raids between communities. OECD Observer article

Deflation watch
In October 2014 we wrote that deflationary risks had risen in the euro area and warned of the dangers deflation poses for the economy. Where do we stand now? Has deflation been avoided or has it started to bite? OECD Observer article
