About the project

The OECD-Russia Technical Assistance Project on Financial Education in the Commonwealth and Independent States (CIS) was launched at an event in Moscow on 29 June 2017. This three-year project will provide policy and practical support for strengthening the financial literacy of citizens with a view to promoting their financial well-being.

The six CIS countries participating in the project are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.

The project involves advanced data collection and analysis of financial literacy levels and gaps in the CIS and collection of qualitative information to support the design, implementation and evaluation of effective financial education strategies as a complement to financial consumer protection and inclusion approaches. In addition, two work streams will target addressing the specific needs of youth and migrants.

The OECD/INFE is steering and managing the project, building on its internationally-recognised expertise and longstanding commitment to advancing financial literacy around the world. The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation is providing financial support.
