Background

 

As part of the OECD Programme on A Territorial Approach to the SDGs, the  OECD Roundtables on Cities and Regions for the SDGs bring together 140+ representatives from a wide range of cities, regions, national governments, and from the European Commission (DG REGIO, DG DEVCO, JRC), alongside international organisations (UN Habitat, UNESCO, UN Global Compact, World Bank), the private sector (Shell, AXA, Airbus, Arup), networks of cities and regions (UCLG, Eurocities, CEMR, Platforma, C40, Committee of Regions) and other stakeholders such as the World Council on City Data, World Citizens Association, Brookings Institution, Social Progress Imperative, SDSN, various water institutions and the Universities of Pennsylvania and Stanford.

 

Building on the results of the 1st Roundtable, this 2nd edition will:

 

  • Build consensus on the assessment, recommendations and checklist from the OECD Report A Territorial Approach to the SDGs;
  • Take stock of best practices from the pilots cities and regions of Bonn (Germany), Kitakyushu (Japan), Córdoba (Argentina), Flanders (Belgium), Southern Denmark (Denmark), Viken (Norway), Kópavogur (Iceland), Parana (Brazil) and Moscow (Russian Federation);
  • Present and discuss the OECD Localised indicator framework and data from 601 regions and 649 cities worldwide;
  • Showcase lessons and experiences from leading cities, regions, national governments and international organisations.
